This one act opera is a 4th of July comedy and social commentary. It is a hilarious opera/musical about a curious Alien who travels to Earth to investigate why we shoot colored lights into the sky every year on the 4th of July.
Ladybird: First Lady of the Land
Composer: Henry Mollicone
Librettist: Sheldon Harnick
This is a one-act opera based upon events in the life of first lady Lady Bird Johnson, the wife or Lyndon Baines Johnson. Due to the passing of the civil rights bill, President Johnson was at risk of not being elected to continue his presidency. His wife Lady Bird courageously campaigned for him across the Southern states on a special train tour, at times putting her own life in danger.
