Mezzo soprano Judith Barnes offers a meditation in music and movement on physical and spiritual homes loved and lost. Traversing the psyches of women who depart, exiled or forbidden, navigating a shifting landscape, singing of death and transfiguration, an exile’s farewell, a lamentation for a widowed city, she turns back for one last look, immured in a world of salt and longing.

Conceived and performed by Judith Barnes, mezzo soprano
Sculptures by Judith Barnes
Piano: Doug Han
With Heather Green, Yuri Ogasawara, and Irena Romendik
Artistic Advisor: Steve Witting

Women of Salt and Longing was created as part of the LEIMAY Fellowship and will be presented at LEIMAY’s SOAK, an annual multidisciplinary festival. For more information about the SOAK festival, click HERE
