Experiments in Opera presents

Video Operas

A collection of five premiere works created specifically for the big screen by composers Jason Cady, Emily Manzo, Anna Mikhailova, Aaron Siegel, and Dorian Wallace.
Featuring Gus Solomons Jr., Jace Clayton/DJ Rupture, John Hagan, and John Sanborn.

In the late 1970s Robert Ashley made his opera Perfect Lives for television because he believed that the America of his time was a culture of TV—not opera houses. Today we are in the midst of a transformation of the medium of video because of Youtube, Vimeo and other websites. Experiments in Opera is commissioning five new operas for video that explore this new trend of web video.
